The old University of Valencia, “Estudi General de València” (UVEG), founded in 1499, has today become a modern European University, open to the culture of practically every branch of teaching. In fact, the UVEG has participated and is participating in more than 250 European Projects under the subsequent RTD European Framework Programmes (I to VII) and other European Programmes/Actions. At present, UVEG participates in thirty projects financed under the 7th Framework programme (FP7), some of them coordinated by the University of Valencia.

The research experience of the UVEG’s research group participating in AQUAENVEC, the Water Economics Group (WEG), is focused on the optimisation of wastewater treatment technologies, cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit analysis, cost modelling, efficiency analysis on the management of water resources, studies of economic and environmental feasibility for water reuse projects and the design of economic, social and environmental indicators associated to technological proposals. The members of the group have also worked on the quantitative valuation of the environmental benefits derived from the improvement of the quality of the water, across different methodologies.
